Honey Oat Bread (Chinese knot shape)

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon active yeast
  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1.5 cup bread flour & 1/2 cup plain flour

Add yeast to warm water and let proof until bubbly. Add in the rest of the ingredients into the bread machine, and set dough program (which is to mix, rest and knead).

Divide dough into 8 or 16 parts (8 if you want to make one large loaf, 16 for two) & form logs. I then placed the logs in a cold oven with a bowl of boiled water and left it to rise.

Once risen form into a Chinese knot as per the diagram below.

Brush with milk and sprinkle oats over.

Let rise until doubled then bake at 180C until browned and crusty. Bread is done when it sounds hollow when you knock on it.
